We live in a city with a thousand-year history. The first Russian book recognized as literature was found here, the first Russian heater was founded here as well. The beautiful churches and monasteries attract thousands of tourists. Nowadays Yaroslavl is a big modern city with progressing economy and science. Unfortunately, its art is still mainly represented by achievements of last centuries. New, unexpected, interesting and experimental projects of contemporary art are required.

WHAT WE DO:

- EXHIBITIONS and PROJECTS on different forms of visual art - photography, architecture, design, installation, sculpture, drawings, paintings, and visual media. We cooperate with known artists to show their works to our local community and also we reveal and involve local beginner- photographers, architects and other artists. Through our open-air Video-Art Festival and Photo-Races we integrate contemporary art in city everyday life.

- FILM CLUB “LIFT cinema” shows modern “author's cinematography”, video art and video dance. Every week young specialists (mainly, post-graduate students) give mini-lecture on a film, director, context and organize discussions with audience.

- PERFORMANCE LABORATORY unites young dancers who are interested in contemporary dance and performance art. We organize workshops, contact jams, lectures, video viewings, work-in-progress. Performances are usually open for audience.

- CLUB "In the LIFT" every month gathers the representative of education, business, culture, city authorities, media and others who may contribute to the discussions on contemporary culture, the ways of its development in our city.

- INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL EXCHANGES bring new ideas, experience and methods for our next projects. We are interested in cross-cultural joint projects on art. We are also interested in projects on other topical problems – such as tolerance, environment, health and etc – which involve art as method and tool.
