The Ţarcu Mountains are a mountain range in the southwestern Romania, at the western edge of the Southern Carpathians. They are located between the Bistra Valley (to the north), Timiş River (to the east), Godeanu Mountains (to the south) and Râul Mare Valley (to the west).
It was my first this kind of trip up to the mountains. All together we were walking 13 hours with two days, most of time up. Weather was very extreme, all this trip was very extreme for me. It was raining, snowing, we had snow storm up on the mountain, it was slick, in some parts we saw only 3 meters forward, it was very hard and one moment I thought to go back, it seemed to be too extreme, I couldn't see anything, my boots were not the best and i felt it was one point too dangerous.
But I didn't give up and I'm very pleased. Finally then we were up, the weather went very good. I really enjoyed what I saw, sun came out, it was warm, no wind anymore and then in some parts I was sliding down on my ass :) I was so happy, the view what I saw was incredible for me, as in Estonia our highest mountain is 300m :) Before this hiking to Tarcu I had been in Marsaille mountains, but it was totally different and it was spring time. I was hiking with my Hungarians friends who are doing those kind of trips several times in year. I hope to go with them one time more before my leaving from Romania. Its something for body, spirit, mind. It doesn't make your body only stronger. Its like if you are working on something: it could be hard but you will not give up and in the end you have very nice results, only because you dint give up in hardest point. This is the best lesson, to have strong spirit, personality, values..
