Here it starts our story.
We meat togheter one evening to have dinner, to joke and have fun when georgians had an interesting proposal. Why dont we go to bucharest?, they asked. i have to admit i was a litle bit surprised about their determination, but in the good sens of word. I said:why not?,although i was a bit concerned about how we will get there.I told them that there is a bus straight from Campeni to the capital, but i was suddenly intrerupted by a definitely NO.We are not going to take the bus, they said. We want to be close to the people,to find out much more things about your country and culture. So i thaught about that and i asked one of our friends who was going the next day to take us with him.
And here we are.
Next day at 7 o'clok in the morning we left to bucharest into an 180 horse power Mithubishi. The way to the capital was quite calm, we stopped to the Olt Valley for a while, we went to Pitesti and from there for one hour we went straight to Bucharest on motorway. We got there at 5 o'clock, almost by nightfall. The interesting part begun next to baneasa. We wanted to get in the centre,so i proposed to take
the bus.Of course it was not a good ideea:d. Girls said:Lets stop a car.I was bewildered."you wanna hitch hike in the city?", i asked them.
Yes why not. And the girls stopped a gentlemam with a minibus who took us close to the centre.Totally unbelievable. We said a kind "thank you very much" to him and we got down to Victoria Avenue, next to Intercontinental hotel. Here started our sightseeing tour which would last until 5 o'clock in the morning. We wanted to see the old centre of the city, so we went straight to Victoria Avenue.
Meanwhile,we had to meet with their coordinator who came from Georgia and who was hosted in a hostel somewhere on the Eminescu street. So another quest for us to solve.Where this street is? But finding the street was quite easy, due to the kindness of the people. After meeting,we went out to the Triumph Arch to meet Kakha, who was also hitch hiking from Arad. We were enjoying the great architecure of the city,a perfect combination between old and modern style, clearly shown by a small romanian church next to the huge Oracle Headquarters.
We were also astonished by Victoria palace and Casa Poporului (People's House)This one has been recorded in Gueness Book as being the second one in size after the Pentagon, and the third one in volume after Cape Canaveral building in Florida. Walking down the streets we could also see, among other things,
the National Museum of History,Triumh Arch an Constitution Square. After walking for so many hours,we decided to get back to the hostel where we made an online reservation few days before. It was almost 5 o clok in the mornig when we got there so tired that we could barely stand on our feet.We got dowm from taxi and .... Surprise. :)) Three dogs were standing freely at the main entrance of the hostel. We were suddently find ourselves searching for a fence or a tree to climb in. After few minutes, the owner took us in and we had a nice spleep until the morning.
The next day we planned to come back and believe us, it was terrible.
The adventure started when we were searching for a car. We split in 2 groups, i went with maia and ia with kakha. They were much more lucky than us, finding a car quite fast. We were still waitingfor our lucky truck to come when ia suddenly called me.Where are you?We are still waiting here..You know, she said,
we were hitch hitking to Pitesti on motorway, when a police crew stopped and ask:do you know it is not allowed to stop cars here? they asked for our papers and which is our purpose of travelling in Romania, after they offered to take us to pitesti on their own car.
It was unbelivable. We were waiting from Valcea for a car,
when a bus stopped and ask where we want to go.They asked for 20 lei, which was not quite a good ideea.Of course,we refused and in couple of minutes we stopped a gentlemen with a truck who was going to England.
And he was the best.He took us to Alba for free, he even gave us food and he also let us sleep in his own bad, on the back of his cabin. It was great.
We meat togheter in Alba Iulia and fom there we went to rosia in two cars separatlely, arriving home around 11oclock in the evening.
Althgough it was tiriring, it has been a wonderful trip which we will never forget. We are in Romania just for one month and a half and we have already seen Rosia Montana, Abrud, Campeni,Albac,Brad,Alba Iulia, Deva, Cluj-Napoca,Arad and Bucharest. We also plan to go to Sighisoara,Broasov and Constanta.
As our stage here has just begun, we are confident that we have enough time to learn much more things about romanian culture and traditions and to be close to those kind and warm people in here.
